Anyone with social media knows the Internet never forgets. Sounds ominous, huh? Well, it is. Even with high security settings, there are ways in which employers (and anyone who so desires) can find even your most private details.
In order to avoid embarrassing social media moments take into consideration the following:
1.Picture This
Would your grandmother approve of that profile picture? If you even have to think for a second, don't use that picture. Your face will appear alongside your school's media, especially if you are a Facebook Administrator.
2.Wait, What?!
This doesn't only apply to pictures though. Often times posts can spark intense debates and controversy may arise. Remember, you are by default a representative of your higher-educational institution. It is great that you have opinions and beliefs, just be cautious of what you share with the world.
3.Oh, that was bad.
If something terrible does happen with your social media and you have no idea how to fix it, talk to the social media specialist(s) in your department. They will be full of ideas as to repair your or the school's online image.
4.It's cool to be you!
Above all, be yourself. Social media is for being social and making great connections. Be responsible, and have fun!
